Winter storm advisories warns of ‘heavy snow,’ ice pellets

CTV Barrie: Winter wallop Snow and freezing rain hit the region prompting winter storm warnings from Environment Canada. KC Colby reports.

Environment Canada has issued a wide-ranging winter storm warning for the region.

According to Environment Canada, the nasty weather is part of a low pressure system that moved up through the Southern United States and toward the Great Lakes on Tuesday and early Wednesday.

Forecasters are predicting ice pellets and snowfall totals of 10 to 35 centimetres are likely across the region by Thursday afternoon.

The national weather agency also warns precipitation may try to change over to rain tonight into Thursday morning before changing back to all snow later on Thursday.
